Delighted
I Grow My GRandfather’s Tomatoes
As a child I would wait all summer to enjoy my favorite treat with my grandfather, his fresh heirloom tomatoes. They were a late-producing variety, and every year we would wait with anticipation to enjoy them together in September. The first taste was pure delight!
When my grandfather passed away, I prioritized learning to grow his tomatoes from the seeds he gave me. I still experience that same delight we shared, but now it’s in the process of remembering. As I tend to my plants, I’m reminded of how much my grandfather delighted in me and how deeply I am loved.
What we tend and nourish grows, and the people in our lives who tend to our hearts with love are our greatest gifts.
This Piece honors those special people who grow delight in us.
